Out and about in Ubud

A fun painting at Tutmak coffee shop in Ubud.  Now all I need is a replica in my apartment!

Below:  Pictures of Puri Saren Agung on Jalan Sayan (the main road) in Ubud.  Disclaimer: I believe that's what this building is (I'm using a simplistic map from my tour book) and I don't really know anything about the building but it was worth having a look.

Following are some pictures from my walks around town.  I have no idea what they are but they looked cool.

View of the streets with people bustling around.

Views from the bungalow.

Below:  The yoga barn.  A hub for foreign yogis but a great place to do yoga nonetheless.

Amazing open air studio; absolutely incredible when the wind blows through.

Below:  The auditorium at yoga barn prior to the 108 sun salutations to help raise money for HIV/AIDS education in Bali.

Below: Views from one of the main roads, Monkey Forest, early in the morning before shops open and tourist emerge.

Below:  Monkey Forest; hard to see the monkeys swinging in the trees (this is early in the am) but I did have a chance to see them on the street rummaging for garbage.  They're quite creepy and surly up close (mostly because I think they're antagonized by tourist daily but I'm just guessing)

Below:  Look to the right of the pole (on top of of the grey container) and on the corner... rogue monkeys early in the morning.

Monkey on the roof and walking on the sidewalk

Mommy and baby monkeys

No these are not Bali trash rats... rather monkeys from the forest across the street rummaging before the tourist arrive.

This turtle for sure has a monkey on his back (ha ha)

Below:  Views from Penestawan, the less touristy area of Ubud (and around the area of my bungalow)

Below:  A gathering of daily offerings (the boxes below in which they also burn incense) on Kuningan - a celebration where families gather together to bid farewell to the gods and spirits.  The people dress up in these beautiful sarongs and head to the temples then spend the day with their families. It also means most everything is closed so keep these holidays in mind should you want to visit Bali.

Below: fish swimming in the water at the bungalow.

And a close up of what they swim under.

Below:  Pictures from Alchemy, a raw bar (juice and salads) across the street.  Let me just say the meal was absolutely delicious.

I really have no idea what a "Colon Whisperer" is and I don't think I want to know.
