What an amazing opportunity to experience one of the Wonders of the World! However, since the iPhone doesn't work under water I decided to post some pictures and update with the really (hopefully) exciting underwater pictures once I get them developed.
A close jaunt over from the hotel in the wee hours of the morning to the "reef" offices for check-in.
Our boat for the grande adventure - Ocean Freedom
Bye, bye land - hello open seas.
A great ride out about 1 hour and 20 minutes from land. The breeze, the sun, the sea-sick passengers barfing off the side of the boat! What a morning!
If you look really close you can see somethings swimming around! Let the excitement commence - NOW!
The Reef.
More to come... I promise!
And as I said just above, here are more pictures of the reef. I hope they make a better underwater camera some day, but for now please enjoy. Oh and please note 27 pictures is not nearly enough to show you how awesome this experience is!
The coral reef and if you look just slightly center and left you can see a fish swimming around.
Not a native fish but proof I was in the water with full snorkel gear
More pictures of the coral
Our second stop after snorkeling from the boat was a shallow "island" where we could catch some rays before snorkeling back to the boat (far left). Since the current was heading that way, it was a pretty easy swim and a great opportunity to just relax while taking in some under water sights.
A view of the reef from the "island"
A school of fish
A sea turtle swimming at the surface just ahead of us
And there he is... swimming away from us
You promised underwater pictures. WHERE are the underwater pictures?!! C'Mon already!! :)
